@@you.knowit If they have done that then all the more I’d not be returning to the game. It’s basically saying they just want us to keep silent and play because any communication is toxic. Obviously having no capacity to manage behaviour and resorting to bot responses. Moving on to Marvel Rivals and I hope that game can learn from mistakes made by Blizzard. Overwatch was a good game once upon a time and it still can be but what a pity with the management of it.

Nah, their defense doesn't cut it when Tracer calls them a Wanker, a word classified as vulgar and meant to abuse, while we have Moira with a spammable "Pathetic" voiceline that is 100% not directed toward in-game characters when the ones under its control are the players xD

Don't spam any voicelines, players do report for spamming. Squelch doesn't work either because you still hear an annoying beep sometimes.

I was exasperated after his repeated overextensions and deaths (after repeated games with tanks like that). To me, if you do something silly in public, after a while someone’s bound to call you an idiot no? It’s almost like you asked for it and less about the toxicity. The same way, I’d call myself an idiot if it’s obvious to me I am being one. As for the other lines “what a loser” and “super fail team”, I don’t even remember what context it was used in. It really could well be in team chat about the other team. In this case, as per your analogy, the other party didn’t hear it. So should the teacher still punish?

I usually like to watch replays and often learn when my perspective is wrong.. that people were trying harder than I thought they were. Of course there are other ways to handle a team mate that is performing poorly or not listening or being toxic to feedback. I chose mine. The game is about working together. Everyone is investing their social time and there should be some respect for it. A poor performance isn't something I fault. It's the unability to receive feedback with toxic responses. It's presumptuous of you to say I'm always "yapping away" and "begging for people to listen" and that I "think I am always right" hence a "terrible person to play with". Not having been banned could simply mean you are of amenable disposition. And that's fine. True. That's why I stopped joining in with vulgarities. About character quotes.. I'm quite sure they are meant to be used to target other players in the heat of the actual combat between players. Of course it's best if everyone is able to control their emotions and be plain nice, so I'm guilty. To me, it still doesn't change the fact that Blizzard has set the tone with their voice lines (many of which are harsher than my words) and yet applies a different (double) standard to policing that communication. You don't find it weird at all that when you get banned for breaking the rules your immediate reaction is to justify being a toxic person instead of not doing that, especially after you agreed to it in the ToS? People are here to play the game, not be flamed by randoms that beat them in unranked.

@@dangehret1349 The point here is not justifying breaking the rules. Admittedly so. Two wrongs (Blizzards and ours) don't make a right. But it still doesn't change the fact that Blizzard has set the tone of the in-game communication with these taunting voice lines can (in your words) be used to flame randoms that beat them in unranked.

@@DisneyDwayne it is literally their game & they set the rules. Being hypocritical might suck, but there's a difference (to them at least) between character voice lines that are pre-recorded and anyone who's seen them before would pretty much dismiss and a specifically typed message flaming someone's gameplay that might actually ruin their experience. (Also you can turn down/off voice line volume, but having to mute all chat is not fair for them)

Nonetheless, I personally wouldn't say EZ because I feel that's gloating, not really constructive and also is really more match making's fault than anything else. Whereas when someone actually gets defensive to feedback on their questionable actions in-game and refuses to listen, the "idiot" is more warranted.

@DisneyDwayne I am just using that as an example of how easy it is for someone to become offended and decide to report you. Even if you don't target someone specifically or use offensive words. All I am saying is, right now, it is incredibly easy to be labeled as toxic and get spam reported because people can't handle criticism anymore. People also abuse the report system because it is so easy to do.

@@DisneyDwayne then any author who create a story with murder or any crime would be okay with it being done IRL these voiceline are here because they are part of the character not because blizzard think "yeah insult funny" these voice line you pointed out are not just for insulting other they can be used in other context. they give you acces to the voice chat, text chat and to these voice line expecting you to use them in a respectable way and to not insult, target or degrade other as you agreed in the overwatch term of service it's like if you illegaly possess a gun and and for your defense you say "the cop have gun too why can't i" because it's against the law
